Originally, A4 House was a two-story private house with a multi-pitched roof, a protruding oriel, large windows, and wooden inserts between them. But during the construction, the customer’s opinion about the image of the future house changed. They turned to LEVEL80 | architects for a new perspective.
Our task was to develop an architectural project of a private house based on an existing project from another studio. And the challenge was that at the time when we joined the work, two stories and a basement had already been built.
1. Hallway
2. Bathroom
3. Living room
4. Kitchen-dining room
5. Garage
6. Hall
7. Study
8. Children’s playroom
9. Primary bedroom
10. Closet
Since the main volume of the house had already been built, we proposed no significant changes to the external outline of the house. We gave some suggestions for improving the layout of the first and second floors.
The main change was the arrangement of the mansard floor with a bio-fireplace instead of a deserted attic. With this solution, we got a place for peaceful relaxation and observation of the fire and the surrounding life, which is visible through a large corner window.
The appearance of such a room led to significant changes in the exterior of the house: the mundane massive house turned into a taut, upward-striving one, open to the world with spacious terraces.
In the decoration of the facades, we took a combination of white plaster and a vertical facade board made of larch, which stretched the silhouette of the building even further. The entrance group and the terrace got visually highlighted by the finishing with fiber cement slabs.
Lively, open, and modern — the new project managed to become a reflection of the energetic and sincere character of the customer and his family members and became the very house they dreamed of.
We are grateful to the customer for the determination to change something at a stage when many would say that it is already too late.
